Surprised to see some definition after all the pancakes I’ve been inhaling. Truth be told, eating healthy should not be stressful. It should not involve measuring food or starving yourself. I do not measure anything that I eat nor did I measure what I used to eat when I was very lean 3 years ago. I experimented with portion sizes and learned what worked for my body. However I always eat based on my activity level. If I were to measure my food, I’d be miserable and realistically, it’s not sustainable. Can you imagine being 60 and still measuring your oats every morning? Mercyyyyy. I understand that some people don’t know what portions they should consume so they weigh their food and that’s great for some time. You begin to have an idea of how much to consume. But after that, you don’t need to continue measuring your food. It can lead to an unhealthy relationship with food. It should turn into a lifestyle rather than a diet. At the end of the day, do whatever works for you, but be honest with yourself. Sometimes we blame other factors and really we just lack discipline. Here is what I do and it may or may not work for you, but you can give it a shot: If I am going to work on something strenuous one day, for example heavy lower body work, then that day I have more carbs than usual so I can be fueled to train and then I’ll have some more carbs and protein (maybe some legumes or animal protein) after I train to restore my muscle glycogen. On a light day when I only do cardio and abs or let’s say I want to isolate my shoulders and arms, I consume carbs in the morning (you need carbs for proper brain function) and later on in the day I have more protein, veggies and yield energy from fat sources such as avocados, nuts, oil, etc. Focus on eating whole foods. It can be simple. And make it FUN. Who doesn’t like FUN? 😍
